99 reasons to spend your money wisely.
One of my favorite people in the whole world was looking for
“The Best Deal in Town” just recently. Or maybe he wasn’t. Maybe he was with someone who suggested they go there, and he was just too polite to say “Oh hell no.” (pronounced “oh haayle no” if you’re from ’round the way)
When his Onion Soup arrived at the table the cheese was black. Not “browned and bubbling.” Not brown. Black.
He looked at it, then looked at the waitress.
She asked “Is everything ok”
(Reaching for the easily attainable, many restaurants are actually ok with “ok”)
He asked what she thought.
Then looked back at his black-cheese topped soup.
Her response? “Yea, I thought it looked bad too”
He asked, “Why did you bring it out?”
She said..Wait. Actually, I have no idea what he said she said. I imagine I stopped listening at that point and began fantasizing about the conversation I would have if that were my restaurant, my cook, my manager and my server.
I am pretty sure, whatever she said doesn’t matter.
Cook burns soup.
Cook puts soup in window for pick up.
Waitress notices soup is burnt and brings it to the guest.
Great deal.
