Driving home from Moonstones, and forgetting that it was 4.30PM on a Friday, made me remember quickly (and that’s the ONLY thing that happened quickly) another reason I love the restaurant business.
How do you people do it?! 10 cars back at a stop sign, 3 light changes before I am through, people who rush to make the light and block the intersection (in my book, an arrestable offense!), merging (er, creeping) onto the bridge, “Hey, you’re driving 10mph BELOW the speed limit!”, “Right on red, right on red…c’mon…you can do it…blinker…aaaand…”, “Do it! Cut in damn you..go! go! go!”
All the tension, all the delays, all the foolishness…and I was only going 9 miles! Obviously, one get’s spoiled by the midnight luxury of being the 1st, and often only, car to every intersection.
Which made me contemplate, as I refrained from honking…

6. Horrible customers make great stories (and probably horrible drivers!)

4. Restaurant people are happy, shiny people…mostly…

2. No lines! When we bank, or shop, you’re at work!
