MAKING IT (DIFFICULT) IN MASSACHUSETTS

Taxachusetts!
I always loved that. The phrase, not the reality.

The City just approved the “Local Meals Tax” Option, as The State gave Towns and Cities the option to “play along”. Apparently, The City needs more money. But, unlike private enterprise, who depend upon keeping customers happy, when that reality exists, government just “raises prices”.

Because?

Well because the real estate tax isn’t enough, of course, to keep the pools open.

Or, the yearly fee of nearly $3,000.00 we pay for the right to serve liquor.
Or, the additional fee to serve liquor outside.
Or, the fee we pay to have the right to serve food with the liquor. (Food license)
Or, the fee we pay to serve Milk and Ice Cream. (Must be a different department from “Food”)
Or, the fee we pay to have a juke box. (Thank you tax lord for THAT privilege)
Oh, we also pay a fee to have a dumpster. (Get it? Our taxes don’t cover trash removal AND THEN The City charges us to have someone else do it!!)

You may think I do not like the City. I do. AND, I like the people in City Hall. They mean well. But, honestly, four separate fees to serve milk in the Kahlua while playing the jukebox and eating Pie?

It’s a wonder that the chair isn’t being taxed? D’oh.
