I DON’T MEAN TO BRAG, I DON’T MEAN TO BOAST…

Although we are now open on Sunday’s (Today’s Sunday Specials to follow!) Saturday still sort of ends the restaurant week, which in the world of Cobblestones (for 16 years now!)almost always means a rather large contingent of staff party together. Sometimes at “our” bar, because it’s too late to go elsewhere. And sometimes it’s at someone’s house (until dawn!) because it’s too early to go home. (Your 3 hours after work-8PM-is our 3AM or 4AM)

Last night though, the word spread fast that “Matty’s playing at Fortunato’s“. (I heard it myself 3 times) “Matty” is Matt Siopes, our excellent waiter, and even better musician. Fortunato’s had the great idea to hire him to play guitar last night and sing his ass off. He packed the place with Cobblestones employees and friends. (It’s no secret that it’s not the food and service that often draws a crowd at Fortunato’s! I’m just sayin’)

While 20-30 supporters sang, danced, hugged, bum slapped and celebrated another long week, and each other, a regular customer of ours; who is very much LIKE a Cobblestones employee as much time as he spends with us; looked at me and said “There’s something magical about your staff”.

He was right. The love and harmony that is present when our people are together is, and almost always has been, pretty amazing. He started to give me credit for that. And maybe I/We deserve some. But here’s the big secret I learned when I was 14 years old and being bullied by a boss; Hire nice people first and foremost, and then be nice to them. (and they maybe won’t dump garbage on your new car!)

It’s not a whole lot more “magic” than that.

Two days ago, when excellent Waitress/Bartender Tara Adams achieved her 3 year anniversary with us, she arrived to work to a dozen cheering employees and an anniversary cake provided by our (very nice) manager’s, Robin Dupell and Kelli Robarge. All celebrated Tara together, before the dinner rush. Last night… “Matty’s playing at Fortunato’s” was the magic phrase. Support and care for each other.

At Cobblestones, the food is great, almost always. And if the service is not on occasion, because we do a lot of training of new people, with little experience, I guaranty this; Your server will at least be nice, caring, and supported by his or her co workers.

Along those same lines of “Great”, we are very proud of our menu and the work our Chef’s do in creating delicious food. A team of dedicated and caring people who insist on getting it right (16 years, 11 years, 7 years, 6 years, 5 years, 3 years…)

They/We seek the “addicted” phrase as much as possible i.e. “I am addicted to your Buffalo Tenders”

Today, we are running specials, to promote some of our “best” items, for FB Fans who read this and visit. (Sunday 6/13)

BBQ Ribs; We don’t pull pork and we don’t (yet) offer cornbread, but we will argue all day that our BBQ’d ribs are the best in town. And Sunday is sooo a BBQ Rib kind of day. Visit us today, mention that you want the ribs and utter the magic phrase #2 “I am a fan of Cobblestones”, and the Full Rack is yours for $9.99. Friendly and attentive service is included!

Same goes for our Bouillabase. Un-freakin-believable, but so very underappreciated! On a damp and lazy Sunday??? $9.99. Tell me if I’m wrong. Scallops, salmon, sea bass, mussels, potato, saffron, grilled bread for sopping up the seafood broth…mmm…

Our burgers. The best. Our Chowder? The best. Order a burger today, receive a cup of chowder on the house. Tell me if I’m wrong.

Our NY Sirloin! As good as any steak South of here. Same deal. Order a Sirloin, have a chowder on the house. (and a beer for $2.50!! Try and get THAT in Burlington!!)

And, of course, our Buffalo tenders! The best, in the World! Order Buffalo Tenders tonight during the Celtics game (the Celtics must be winning!) and the Buffalo Tenders are 1/2 price!!!

Get addicted.

One more Sunday note; We are having a “Clearance Sale” on all beers leaving the menu, making room for our 15 new American Craft Brews, which begin today. $2.50 a beer, beginning at 7PM, through the Celtics game and until they are gone!

BBQ Ribs and Beer. Burgers and Beer. Buffalo Tenders and Beer. Oh…and, nice people! See you there?
