We have returned from Europe. Where we met, and then left, our “backpacking” daughter–She trained overnight to Florence, Italy, from Budapest, via Prague, via Germany, via Poland. We were supposed to meet her at the train station, but she was early. So, she napped under a park bench–then walked to all the cool Florence sights while the “million” tourists slept, then, she found our hotel and convinced them to let her into our room (that was booked by someone other than us!) where she took a hot bath, and a nap. Love that shit.
One of our friends asked Tara how she stays safe traveling as a woman alone, through various countries. She told us that she does her drinking at gay bars. (Great strategy, right!? Her momma didn’t raise no fool!)
This blog started to be (a little) about our trip…but she is so much more interesting. We visit “the” museums, seek the best wine for the money (can’t go wrong in Tuscany!), eat pasta (can’t go wrong in Rome)…SHE, visits Art Galleries. Remote locations, with little known artists. And writes a column for a Chicago art e-magazine. And crashes on couches of friends of friends. David? Michaelangelo? Eh.
She’s now on a farm in France–0receiving free room and board while she milks cows, forages for mushrooms, bakes bread…and learns to speak French. Seriously.
I’ll be back with more later…
BY THE WAY…if you know someone with the technology to update, train, etc…me..on blogging… I don’t even know how to get people’s responses on this thing. My brother in law set this up…but I hate to ask him. He’s too busy, and already eats and drinks for free at The Stones. Please help me with a reference, and I will reward you both with steak and beer. (Wine and cheese?) splath@moonstones110.com
Thanks!!
