Did I mention in this blog, how we celebrated our 2o year anniversary last month? I can’t even remember! (That’s what 20 years of restaurant work does to a brain!) We celebrated with a hundreds of amazing staff members (past and present), family and friends. It was a great day, and we managed to give away TWO cruises (To a guest, and an employee), while also raising close/most of the $20,000 for The Boys and Girls Club that we intended. It was a great party–and sorry if you missed it. (We are having another one, this weekend–around our 21st FOLK FESTIVAL, if you would like to join!)
**We do an after-hours, after the festival winds down, with our own bands–All 3 days–Friday, Saturday, Sunday. It will be a blast!
Did I mention, that in saying “thank you” to (4) of the special ladies that helped us get to 20 years (Robin-20 years, Rose 14 years, Kim, 10 years, Kelli, inching towards 10 years…), we all took a limo to NYC, stayed in a hotel with a close view of the Empire State Building, and attended a French Cote d’Azure wine dinner at Daniel Boulud’s, Boulud Sud? The next day, we ate at Danny Meyer’s Grammercy Taven–two of the most prominent restaurateur’s in NYC. Both meals were stellar–with service proving maybe even more expert than the food! At Boulud’s, waiters actually compete to see who can re fold the guest’s napkin first, when the guest rises to use the bathroom. Water glasses and bread plates kept completely full at all times, waiter’s who know all four grapes in each wine, crumbers between courses, substitute “comped” amuse-bouche immediately for our guest with an allergy, sharp-pressed uniforms…on an on. What a great experience!! What great staff. (It was going to be so much fun leading them through the subways to each destination–but 90 degree humidity and rain put a damper on that plan. As it were, adjusting as we do, it was JUST as much fun, rexting UBER instead, and having a black SUV pick us up at each destination for only $60.00 more for the weekend.
Nothing but style for “our girls!” Every 20 years anyway. Now, back to the fries!
**Maybe over our shut down (8/11-8/15) we will refresh, with such great restaurants in mind….
