A typical up and down Sunday came to a sobering halt. And then a 180 degree turn, in one of those moments of monumental clarity– “Prioritize, sir”, was the order self ascribed.
STOP. Easy like Sunday morning, after two coffees and with fall in the air, I damn near skipped out the door. Intent on a day of promoting brunch at both restaurants with the sounds of football in the background, my inner-groaning began upon arriving to a leaky roof at moonstones, “damn leaky roof’s gonna mess with my Sunday bliss… gonna slow my roll.” Then I received an email-cry from Robin, Cobblestones’ 21-year engine: “Amy from the food bank informed me yesterday that they are extremely low on food….the shelves are nearly bare.” We will help. Cocoa Puff milk-infused brunch-drink-sampling and fretting over whether the pork needed more brown-sugar roasted pineapple for the money, became immediately and justifiably trite. The finest among us–those folks, who take the daily lead in making sure that the hungry–the truly hungry– are fed… are in a state of despair. Please join us. Here’s how you help get food to those who need our help the most…. 1. Most effective and efficient: The website. Monetary donations are the single greatest, most direct way to positively impact hungry families. 2. A Green way to help: Visit Cobblestones or moonstones any time this week and bring in non-perishable food for the cause and receive a complimentary salad (donated greens provided by Mill City Grows) or… 3. Most Fun way to help: Join us for brunch at either Stones restaurant this Sunday with a printed copy of this newsletter, make a $20.00 donation, enjoy a complimentary Captain Crunch infused breakfast beverage and we will donate an additional box of cereal for every $20.00 raised. We have learned through the years that food banks benefit from great generosity during the holiday season, but there are other times of year when hungry children desperately need our assistance. Now is one of those times. Please help us. It takes a village.
