Two weeks in a row, two restaurants, two incredible staffs, two grand slams.
Last week, moonstones hit it way out-of-the-park, with a 5 course wine dinner, featuring Augusto Gabriel, Wine Bow, wines from Spain, Portugal and Chile, our chefs, and one particularly fine and perfect evening.
Last night, COBBLESTONES matched the effort and excellence, with a 5 course beer dinner featuring, Brew Master Jack, incredible staff choreography, and one course after another of great pairings, but even more importantly, amazing food.
From the first course of clams vichy–a seafood-leek-potato broth with steamed local clams and a beautiful saison (Chef felt, larger quahogs were better than smaller littlenecks, because, “It’s a beer dinner, not a wine dinner.” Love that shit.) to the second course of “BLT”…a fried green tomato with a perfectly rendered and caramelized strip of pork belly, to the 3rd course of “little pillows of love”, a house made gnocchi with duck confit and crispy duck prosciutto, to, the show-stopping (Lie! No one stopped!) short ribs braised in the porter that was served alongside this melt-in-your-mouth dish, accompanied by a porter-enhanced demi-glace, and crisped, leek-fingerling potato hash (stolen from our new, delicious Sunday Brunch menu!)…the whole deal… I felt like, well, we charged way too little money!! It was perfect. Just sayin’
Thank you to GM Robin Dupell and her staff, and Chef Tiffani and HER staff, who also brought in our former Chef Steve Cataldo, and moonstones incredibly talented sous chef, Adam H., to assist her in creating a dinner worthy of any big city event I have ever been to.
Stay tuned. We will do another, after the holidays!
