Did you read my column in this month’s Merrimack Valley Magazine?
(Do you GET Merrimack Valley Magazine? It’s great. Truly. I’m not just saying that.)
So, anyway…I’m on a recent rant. The bear is woke.
Ongoing, relentless and ignorant legislation is trying to murder “my” incredible industry–so much so that I find myself making arguments that have folks now calling me the “R” word.
Listen…no need for name calling. Let’ s just make sense people. Good lord. Yes. Let’s help those that need help. That’s the American way. But let’s do so without killing their motivation or our ability to help them help themselves–in the way of motivation, and wherewithal, and self respect. It’s maddening. “Hey, don’t feel like working this week? Working is hard? Just stay home, apply for unemployment. The rest of us will keep working really hard–juggling kids, school, life…and you can have “a trophy” too. You tried. Relax, watch Jerry. We got you.”
Don’t like my perspective? I’m insensitive? (I’m really not)
Maybe the National Restaurant Association will sway you. We now need lawyers, to fight lawyers and hard-work funded politicians, who think dishwashers and servers should also be taking Wednesdays off to golf, rather than aspiring and pursuing dreams , the other “American Way.”
Like this…
1. In general, in life, you show up. (On time, and put the phone away) Just sayin.’
2. You bust your ass. Studying, washing, writing…whatever.
3. You get better and advance. (Or move on to where advancement exists)
4. You get better still, you make more money, you keep busting your ass.
5. You save some money, and then some more, you make sacrifices, and you keep busting your ass.
6. You decide how hard you will work and how long and how well, given where you want to live, or go on vacation or how dependable a car you want.
What am I missing? What are WE missing?
The biggest joke ever was mandated time-an-a-half after 40 hours. I’m pretty sure we started downhill on that day.
4o hours?! Hahahaha.
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
Can you be more specific about the content of your article? After reading it, I still have some doubts. Hope you can help me.
