A QUICK CRY… AS A DOG …

A definition of yelp.

But, the definition of Yelp is different.

As I clicked through the channels last night, looking for something to fall asleep to, there was Family Guy.  And honestly, who is more brutally honest whilst funny, than Stewie.

Stewie’s definition of Yelp?  “A weapon for dumb people.”  A hearty laugh before sleep is good medicine.

While they continue to seek my advertising revenue or for us to switch to their reservation system, my opinion of Yelp has not changed.  Especially after a recent customer typed into his phone in the middle of  everyone’s dinner (except his), a negative review, slamming, lying, and drama-damning, as the manager tried sincerely to rectify and compensate for the single dinner that took too long (his).  What kind of person does that–goes all negative and self absorbed in front of the whole table during a birthday celebration, then accuses the restaurant of “ruining” their dinner? I’ll tell you who…The Jerry Springer set.  No grace, no decorum, no decency.  Just another tool in the box for my book.

**The title of that chapter will named by a a best friend of mine; “Not very person on Yelp is an asshole but every asshole is on Yelp.”  (Cracked me up.)

It’s fun to note that drama-dude typed “Take a good look because that’s the last time we’ll be here,” yet, the same birthday “girl” has returned on numerous occasions.  (Usually with some sort of complaint, but we are happy to have her each time.  She’s a good, but tough customer.)  Just sayin’

For those who have not been reading this blog since the beginning, my strong opinion is, a better class of diners and more tempered and mature reviews are found on Trip Advisor.

Just don’t be misled by Trip Advisor rankings–They are often skewed greatly by a demographic that reviews.  (However, just not by a preponderance of dumb people.)

For instance, #1 ranked Rhumba Cafe is very far from being the best of dining in Naples Florida.  A very cute, very hospitable Cuban-centric cafe with super fresh iceberg lettuce salads topped with tasty marinated pork….solid place for sure.  Just not #1 of the 758 places or so in Naples.  Of course, they may be the best at reminding happy customers to leave a positive review on Trip Advisor after dinner, as they did with me, which makes them arguably the #1 smartest restaurant in Naples!!  That counts. Ya gotta be in it to win it!
