For teaching me to be loving, compassionate, and caring.
For showing your children that the most vulnerable amongst us need and deserve our support and love.
Forever offering haven and love for the less fortunate, the struggling and wayward, friends and family, the oh-so many children, The Camp for the Blind, Big Sisters, for adopting our sister, for the fostering, for the countless others you have embraced and loved when they needed it most. Your heart is the biggest of hearts.
Thank you for driving me to sports events and friend’s houses and more so, to become self confident, strong, educated, driven, honest and fair minded, for teaching me disdain for hatred, bias and bigotry through love and acceptance and exposure and patience and humor. Thank you for trying to be more “easy come easy go,” for evidencing self awareness, for overcoming and wherewithal.
You have motivated me greatly. Your spirit and value system is inspirational.
Thank you for being there.
For baking bread, for fruits and nuts and for driving healthy food initiatives, for growing vegetables and joining community gardens 30 years before it was trendy, for attending all those meetings and exemplifying involvement, for embracing nature and pets, for dogs and gerbils and bunnies (no snakes!), for Lake Welch, Bear Mountain, Eagle Mountain, camping, family vacations, and for loving Martha’s Vineyard for its nature and preservation and clay cliffs and native Americans, for music lessons and demanding participation and effort, for Simon and Garfunkel and Janis Joplin, for being ok with cereal for dinner, the original wedge salad, for freaking out when we were running late, for demanding thank you cards, and better communication and respect for our elders.
You are a great mom.
(Even though I suck at the whole card thing!)
